It makes it easier when you play on two boards. One has the current position. The other you play ahead and look at possibilities. Then you backtrack looking at board 1, and start over. Sometimes unlikely moves end up being the best. Other times obvious moves can be shown to fail! I have said before, playing with 2 boards adds 400 points to your performance.

I truly wish I could claim I saw all those lines, but we all know who took over the odd-numbered moves. Rxg6 was all Ed!

Two of the more interesting possibilities that I recently shared with Lenny were:

Wow! I wish you HAD played that, simply because it seems (on a quick glance) as though that might have changed the dynamic of the game considerably. As it was, Black was on a passive, defensive mode by the time Ed sacrificed the Exchange. However, it seems that after ... Bj3, White must proceed with immense caution, given the x-ray threat on i2 and (after ... Ni4) the threat on j2 as well. I would probably have tried 14) Bg5, and I think White is out of trouble. I wonder what Ed thinks.

Thank you Lenny! Rxg6 was a very impressing move. I wonder if we should have captured with the other pawn. I very seriously considered 13 ..., Bj3. What do you think about that?

@jensendk -- If we're not doing another consult or tandem, I'd love to challenge you one-on-one, although I must warn you I play considerably below the level of @shogi, and hopelessly below Ed's level. By the way, I very much enjoyed your recent game vs. GothicChessInventor, and it was more than enough to convince me you're far stronger than I am. [Our games lasted 13 and 20 moves, but I was dead lost earlier!]

If you three gentlemen are all interested in another -- and assuming Ed can put up with me! -- I would certainly enjoy another game. This one was an absolute pleasure, and I think I learned something from it.

@GothicChessInventor -- Didn't Euwe write something about how Lasker would make the second-best move in order to complicate things? Besides, if I have you to bail me out next move, I shouldn't have to worry about a second-best move, should I?
