Chess variant


Three-player chess variant played on a large hexagonal board with hexagonal fields.

General rules

There are three players, everyone against everyone. Move order: White, Red, Black.

The game ends when someone is checkmated:

Movement of the pieces

Pawns move to the opposing side of the board, but they can do it in two directions: forward left or forward right to an adjacent field. They capture diagonally forward (in bishop's directions) left or right. They can advance two fields in the same direction from the two initial pawn-lines. See the diagram below.

Pawns promote on the opposite edge of the board.

Castling works in a similar way as in standard chess, except that when castling long (to queenside), both the king and the rook move three fields:
